With around 50-60 local journalists attending, the protest was organized by the District Journalists Forum in front of Habiganj Press Club on Thursday afternoon. Speakers at the protest demanded the immediate release of the arrested journalists and threatened to go to a tougher movement if their demand is not met. Among others, journalists Md Ismail Hossain, president of Habiganj Press Club, Shamim Ahsan, editor of Daily Khoai, Md Shaban Miya editor of Daily Pratidiner Bani, and Fazlur Rahman, editor of Daily Janatar Express took part in the protest. Police arrested the journalists from Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj on Tuesday. The arrested Abdur Razzak Raju, president of upazila reporters’ forum and Abdul Jahir, were sent to jail following a court order.
