KUALA LUMPUR: Habib Jewels Sdn Bhd expects to double its sales in the next three months, as customers take advantage of a ‘tax holiday’ period coupled with the festivity season. Managing director Datuk Seri Meer Habib said the company expects consumers will be encouraged to spend as the Goods and Services Tax (GST) has been zero-rated beginning today. The GST will eventually be replaced by the Sales and Services Tax (SST), scheduled to take place in September. “We expect customers to take advantage during this period, and will be reflected in growth of sales for Habib. Meer said the price of gold has already seen the impact of zero-rated GST.
