Photo: Pradeep Gaur/MintMumbai: Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL), the country’s largest consumer packaged goods company by sales, will announce its third-quarter earnings on Monday. It will be interesting to hear what the management has to say on recovery of consumer demand following the cash crunch after the scrapping of high-value banknotes on 8 November. The results will also provide an insight whether the bellwether for India’s economy has retained its purchasing power or if the margins are under pressure. It would be of interest to see what is the extent of this on items like advertising and sales costs. We would also like to hear the management commentary on what has happened to India’s traditional wholesale trade that accounted for 40% of the Rs2.6 trillion consumer packaged goods industry.
