Photo: Raj K Raj/ Hindustan TimesNew Delhi: The human resources development (HRD) ministry is mulling a plan to set up a central board for Vedic and Sanskrit education which would be first of its kind in the country. In a report submitted earlier this year, the panel had suggested that the HRD ministry establish a Central Board of Veda and Sanskrit Secondary Education that will affiliate, conduct exams and make available the grant-in-aid. The panel had also suggested that the proposed board will be an independent body under MHRD (ministry of human resource development or HRD) with appropriate authority. It is very necessary to protect traditional learning and make the learning duly recognized by an authority,” the panel said as it recommended a Central Board of Veda and Sanskrit Secondary Education.
