HP’s Ad Firms Meet Demand to Hire More Women, Fall Short on Minorities

About a year ago, HP Inc. CMO Antonio Lucio demanded that the company’s advertising and public relations agencies diversify their ranks by adding more women and minorities. While all five of HP’s agencies exceeded the goal of adding more women, most of the firms fell short when it came to hiring more minorities, the company said. For HP, adding more women to its account teams is a “business imperative,” Mr. Lucio added. A year ago only 7% of the women working on the HP account at BBDO held leadership positions; today its 61%. Today, 40% of BBDO senior creatives on the HP business are women while Fred & Farid’s is at 55%.
