HNEC refers non-compliant candidates to Public Prosecution

The High National Elections Commission (HNEC) has announced the referral of the names of candidates for the municipal council elections in the second and third groups who failed to submit their electoral campaign financial reports to the Public Prosecution. The HNEC stated that this measure is in accordance with the executive regulations for municipal council elections, which require every candidate or list to submit a detailed, certified financial statement showing funding sources and campaign expenditures. It emphasized that failure to submit these statements entails legal measures, including exclusion from the electoral process and penalties stipulated by applicable laws, including imprisonment, fines, and deprivation from running for one electoral cycle.
