Max Shen Zuo (left) and Gong Peng (right) have been recommended to take up two vice-presidential role at the University of Hong Kong. A member of the University of Hong Kong's governing council has called for a probe into two mainland Chinese professors who were named to take up management roles at the university. The HKU's governing council is expected to discuss the appointments next Tuesday, however, council member Daniel Lei Tsz-shing demanded to postpone the voting time, followed by an investigation on the backgrounds of both candidates. If the appointments were endorsed, Shen and Gong would assume the roles from January 2021 at the earliest to serve for five years. A university's spokesperson had refused to comment on the personnel appointments, stating it would only make official announcements after all procedures were completed.
