The Department of Health today announced the first case where a 69-year-old man developed Bell's Palsy, also known as facial paralysis, after receiving the Sinovac coronavirus vaccine. Bell's palsy is a condition that causes a temporary paralysis of the muscles in the face. It can occur when the nerve that controls your facial muscles becomes inflamed, swollen, or compressed. He received the jab last Saturday at around 1pm at the vaccination center at the Hong Kong Central Library in Causeway Bay. On the next morning, his left eye was said to lack tear production, resulting in a dry eye.
