The Hong Kong Institute of Allergy and the Hong Kong Allergy Association called on citizens to receive the Covid jabs, also urging the government to regulate pharmaceutical companies to disclose the components of their vaccines to prevent allergies. The two groups said allergic reactions caused by vaccines have been exaggerated, which they were usually caused by part of the ingredients used within the vaccines. They also said the advantages of getting the jab outweigh its disadvantages, suggesting that people should be monitored by medical staff for 30 minutes after being vaccinated to ensure safety. Currently, only the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines have disclosed their vaccine components, while Sinovac and AstraZeneca both have yet to do so. The two groups said there are no laws in Hong Kong to regulate pharmaceutical companies in disclosing their vaccine components, urging the government to close the loophole to ensure Hong Kong citizens’ safety.
