HK expects warmest Lantern Festival in 11 years


Temperature is forecast to increase to 26 degrees Celsius this Friday on Lantern Festival, aka the Chinese Valentines' Day – the highest in 11 years. According to the Hong Kong Observatory’s latest forecast, the easterly airstream affecting the coast of Guangdong is strengthening gradually, bringing mainly fine weather to the city, it will also be cloudier over the coastal areas of Guangdong. Temperatures will range between 19 to 24 degrees tomorrow with sunny periods during the day, there will also be a few rain patches in the next couple of days. Meanwhile, a cold front is expected to reach the south China coast later on Friday, with the associated northeast monsoon bringing slightly cooler weather to the region. The local weather will be cool on coming Saturday, with a low of 18 degrees.
