The High Court bench of Justice JBM Hasan and Justice Md Khairul Alam will hand down the verdict after hearing the writ. Advocate Ghosh filed the writ on Monday to have the Election Commission defer the election date for a week, as the date of the polls is on the same day as Saraswati Puja. On December 22 last year, the Election Commission announced the election date of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) for January 30.
