more-inThe Delhi High Court has rapped the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) stating that the agency thinks “they are law unto themselves”, and slapped a cost of ₹25,000 on it for filing a frivolous appealThe HC said it was high time that strict action be taken against officers of public bodies, such as the DDA, who are harassing common citizens. The DDA has filed a second execution appeal against the HC’s January 2015 order by which the DDA was directed to enforce the judgement and decree of July 2012 order. Harassing citizensThe HC said that the DDA, which controls and owns huge tracts of land in Delhi, is infamous for its dealings with common citizens, especially the poor. “This second appeal is a classic reminder that certain officers in bodies such as the DDA have made it almost their determination to harass commons citizens,” the court said, adding, it was a completely frivolous appeal. The court directed the DDA to recover the cost from the “salary of that highest placed employee” who took the decision to object to the judicial order.
