Orphanage Trust graft: High Court cancels Khaleda's petition seeking fresh probeBNP chief Khaleda Zia's plea for a fresh probe over the source of funds in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case has been turned down.The High Court bench of justices M Enayetur Rahim and Shahidul Karim scrapped the petition on Thursday.Jakir Hossain Bhuiyan, one of the counsels for Khaleda, said they would move the Appellate Division against the order, reports bdnews24.com.The Anti Corruption Commission filed the Orphanage Trust graft case in 2008 during emergency regime of the military-backed caretaker government.It accuses the former prime minister and five others, including her son Tarique Rahman of embezzling Tk 21 million from funds meant for the trust, which reportedly came from a foreign bank.Bhuiyan told the media on Tuesday, when the plea was filed, that the prosecution alleges the fund came from Saudi Arabia and that Khaleda Zia has misappropriated it. "But it came from the Emir of Kuwait, who gave it for the Trust. Khaleda Zia has not misappropriated the funds; it has been deposited with the bank. "I won't say anything in defence because I am not given time and my lawyers do not have confidence in the judge. So I also don't have confidence in the judge," she replied.On Feb 16, she filed a petition with the High Court seeking to change the trial court citing her lack of confidence on the judge, which was granted on Wednesday.
