The High Court has released its full verdict on its order scrapping the 16th constitutional amendment that empowered Parliament to impeach Supreme Court judges. Parliament passed the 16th amendment on September 17, 2014. But the Supreme Judicial Council was abolished through the amendment. A three-member special bench led by Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury had delivered the verdict by majority view on May 5. In its verdict, the court had said removing a judge for incapacity or misbehaviour by the Supreme Judicial Council, led by the chief justice, was the best way.
