HC gives Bulandshahr gangrape case to CBI


Allahabad, Aug 12 (PTI): The Allahabad High Court on Friday ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation to handle the Bulandshahr gangrape case, observing that it was “not satisfied” with the police investigation so far. Bhosale and Justice Yashwant Varma passed the order a day after the Samajwadi Party government submitted a status report on the investigation into the incident in a sealed cover. The high court, which had taken suo motu cognisance of the July 29 incident, also said it intended to “monitor the investigation into the case.” A Division Bench of Chief Justice D.B. On July 30, dacoits had waylaid a family travelling from Noida outside Delhi to Shahjahanpur in western UP at night on a highway near Bulandshahr and gang-raped a woman and her 13-year-old daughter. The court also expressed dissatisfaction with details of the social background, criminal records and political affiliations - if any - which had been provided in the status report in the matter of its August 8 order, issued on the first date of hearing.
