HC forms bench to hear appeals in 7-murder case


Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha has fixed a High Court division bench to hear the death references and appeals in the case lodged over sensational seven murders in Narayanganj in 2014. “The Chief Justice has assigned a High Court division bench comprising of Justice Bhabani Prasad Singh and Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam to hear the matter. The judges will now set a date for hearing,” said HC Additional Registrar (Administration and Judicial) Md. On Tuesday, the High Court ordered to appoint counsel at state’s cost to defend five fugitive convicts, who have been sentenced to death in the case. The court simultaneously sentenced nine others to different terms in jail finding their involvement in the gruesome murders which sparked a nationwide anger.
