There are only 13 episodes left until the conclusion of Game of Thrones, HBO's biggest hit in recent memory. HBO has handed out contracts to four writers to work on multiple spinoffs of the show. It makes sense for the network to capitalize off Game of Thrones, which it counts as its most watched series to date, especially because its popularity is only growing. While it is impossible to tell how many subscribers (the main source of revenue for HBO) have signed up for HBO only to watch the series, the number of HBO subscribers has increased over 44% since Game of Thrones premiered in 2011. HBO continues to be one of the most successful branches of Time Warner, with revenue steadily increasing.
