It feels supremely “Watchmen” without being derivative, moving the series into a new sort of conflict that surprise, is extremely political, despite that fact being kept out of nearly all the promotional materials for the series. So I feel like this is more complicated than it appears to be, which should be no surprise to any Watchmen fan. We are very clearly seeing the original graphic novel used as canon here, not the movie. Watchmen HBOElsewhere, we see past Watchmen characters immortalized in film and posts, a few of which appear to be guiding the racism of the Cavalry.
