HA denies rumors on reusing face masks

The Hospital Authority today denied rumors on social media claiming that public hospital workers have been asked to disinfect and reuse single-use face masks. Chief Manager of Quality and Standards, Dr Lau Ka-hin, said the HA will never require workers to reuse or even share single-use face masks, adding that the masks need to be disposed after use. He added that if workers have any queries about using personal protective equipment, they can check with their department head or infection control officers. Lau also said there are currently 1.1 million face shields in reserves and with the help of the Polytechnic University and local manufacturers, the supply is steady.
