more-inThe Malkajgiri Zone SOT and Meerpert police on Tuesday apprehended eight persons for illegally manufacturing gutka by procuring raw material from other states and selling it in the city. The accused have been identified as S.A. Khalid, N. Chowan, M. Sharfuddin, L. Singh Sikarwar, K. Tomar, Dhruv Singh, Santosh and Gorab Singh Tomar. The police said Khalid, who is a resident of Edi Bazaar, has contacts in Uttar Pradesh and came to know of gutka manufacturing process. To begin operations in the city, he took a place on lease in Shahpur Nagar and began manufacturing gutka. The police seized 60,000 gutka sachets, rolling paper, zarda bags, perfume tins and an auto-trolley among other items.
