Constable Gurnam Singh won the battle against Pakistan-backed infiltrators but lost the war with his life. Seemingly angry by his bravery, Pakistan Rangers sniped at him on Friday morning causing him serious head injuries. Seven Pakistan Rangers and a militant were killed when BSF launched an aggressive offensive after the sniper attack. "Constable Gurnam Singh was instrumental in repulsing forced infiltration by terrorists on intervening night of October 19 and 20. He killed one of them and pushed back five others," said Kulbir Singh, father of the slain constable Gurnam Singh.
