While several traders blame the supply crunch in wholesale market for the hike in prices, the closure of the city's oldest meat market at Jacobpura could be the real reason. Shopkeepers said the price of raw goat meat was Rs 420-450 per kg till about a week back, when the Jacobpura market was functional. 'TRADERS DEPEND ON GAZIPUR MARKET'According to chicken shopowner Sudhir Bhagat, most traders are now depending on the Gazipur wholesale market in Delhi. "Ever since the Jacobpura meat market closed down, the sale at my shop has doubled", Ahmed said.
