Traffic violators got a pleasant surprise on Monday when instead of getting a challan issued against their name, women police officials tied rakhis on their hands and made them pledge to follow traffic rules,wear seat belts and put on helmets. Over a 1,000 violators had rakhis tied on their wrists between 10am and 1.30pm on Monday morning as part of the special campaign launched by the Gurgaon police and Road Safety Organisation. The objective was to use the occasion of Rakshabandhan for raising awareness among road users about traffic safety rules. These spots are Sector 4/7 exit, Huda City Centre, Jharsa chowk, Kherki Daula toll, Mahavir chowk, Kataria chowk, Sethi chowk, Pataudi chowk, Basai chowk, and Vatika chowk on Sohna Road. Two nukkad nataks (street plays) were also organised on the occasion to make people aware of traffic rules.
