Gurgaon: Agreement signed for reviving defunct Bandhwari waste plant

The project is aimed at reviving Gurgaon and Faridabad’s only waste management plant at Bandhwari village, which has been lying defunct since June 2013. According to officials privy to the agreement, a waste-to-energy plant will be set up at the site to process 1,400 tonnes of garbage produced daily by the two cities. Of this, ₹75 crore will be allocated under the Centre’s Swachh Bharat Mission for setting up the waste-to-energy plant. The concessionaire will be also responsible for setting up a complaint redressal system regarding waste management and use e-rickshaws for waste collection. It will also be responsible for showcasing the entire collection and transportation of waste online for public preview to ensure transparency.
