Police thought they'd shutdown an "out of control" 21st birthday party at a Christchurch home, but several hours later a man was beaten up and shotgun blasts rang out nearby. Detective Sergeant Dave Parker said police received a noise complaint about the party at a property on Spencer St, Addington, about 9.30pm, Saturday. Then, about 3am she heard gunshots. The spokeswoman said police had closed down a section of Fielding St, between Spencer St and Parlane St for a scene examination to be completed.
