Las Vegas Assistant Sheriff Tom Roberts said police received calls reporting shots fired around 11 a.m. on a southbound local bus. The southern end of the normally bustling Strip looked like a ghost town after police blocked off portions of Las Vegas Boulevard. As the Strip was closed, they walked along the empty southbound stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard — as far as police would let them. It was Wood’s first trip to Las Vegas and he didn’t want to forget any of it. Outside on Las Vegas Boulevard south of Harmon Avenue, it was hard to tell a shooting had happened.
