'Gullible' man imported $200k of meth after falling victim to scammers

(File photo)An “unusually naive and gullible man” brought 1.4kg of methamphetamine into New Zealand after being fooled by scammers, it’s been revealed. The case of Gregory Jason Martin has been outlined in a decision released on Friday from the Court of Appeal. That suitcase contained 1.4kg of meth, which would have had a street value of between $188,000 and $280,000. Martin, who Justice Goddard described as an “unusually naive and gullible man”, had been concerned the bag contained drugs. Despite his fears, he entered New Zealand, where Customs officers found the meth hidden within the lining of the bag.
