Supreme Court (File) Supreme Court (File)The Supreme Court will hear on November 30 a plea by a Congress leader seeking directions to Election Commission to frame guidelines for counting of votes through VVPAT machines in the Gujarat Assembly polls. A bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud also sought the assistance of Attorney General K K Venugopal in the matter. Though representations had been made to the EC on these issues, no decision had been taken yet, the petition added. It also sought the apex court’s direction to the poll panel not to disturb the voters’ list without notice to the voters as well as the concerned political parties. Responding to a plea seeking using of VVPAT machines in Gujarat Assembly polls, the EC had told the Apex Court in August this year that it will be able to do so.
