Ahmedabad continues its romance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), backing it once again in the 2017 assembly elections. In the city, the party won 12 of the 16 seats (in 2012 BJP had won 14 seats), conceding an additional two seats than in 2012. It is obvious from the present victory margin that the 2017 elections was a closely contested elections for the BJP in Dhandhuka. His victory margin is the highest in the 2017 elections. The seats that saw a lower victory margin for the BJP than in 2012 were Vejalpur, Nikol, Thakkarbappanagar, Amraiwadi and Maninagar.
