A stock of around 8,000 quintal groundnut worth Rs 3.90 crore stored at a warehouse in Rajkot city was gutted in a fire late on Sunday. Considering this is the third incident in which fire has destroyed huge stock of groundnut purchased by the Gujarat government at minimum support price (MSP) from farmers, CM Vijay Rupani has ordered a CID probe into Sunday's fire incident, according to Agriculture minister RC Faldu. Earlier, fire destroyed groundnut stored at private warehouses in Gondal town of Rajkot district and Gandhidham town of Kutch. "Out of the total 42,000 sacks that were kept in the private warehouse, we managed to save 15,000. But around 26,000 sacks, with groundnut worth Rs 3 crore, were gutted in the fire," Faldu said, about Sunday's fire.
