PHOTO: LINDA ROBERTSONEnthusiastic animal lovers were in guinea pig heaven on Saturday, as Dunedin hosted its first show for the cuddly critters in 20 years. The Otago Cavy Club hosted the guinea pig show at the Halfway Bush School hall and more than 100 of the cute rodents were entered across the pure breed and pet categories. Club secretary Andorra Sedgeman said she had recently moved to Lawrence from Auckland, and one of her goals on arrival was to get a local guinea pig club up and running. Becoming an accredited guinea pig judge was a thorough process, involving five years’ experience as a breeder and exhibitor, followed by four years of training on conditioning and the pure breed classes.
