PETALING JAYA: There are guidelines and advice on how drivers may disinfect the interior of their vehicles to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The United States’ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published general guidelines on how to sanitise vehicles that may have transported suspected Covid-19 cases. The CDC recommends disinfecting surfaces using cleaning solutions with an alcohol content of at least 70%. Another US-based non-profit consumer organisation, Consumer Reports, says that drivers may choose to use solutions that contain at least 70% alcohol to sanitise the vehicle’s interior. However, it advised drivers not to use bleach or hydrogen peroxide on the inside of vehicles as they would likely damage the car’s upholstery despite killing viruses on surfaces.
