Guevarra says gov’t prepared to probe law enforcers over violations in drug operations 0 SHARES Share it! Share TweetBy Jeffrey DamicogDepartment of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Menardo Guevarra gave the assurance that the government was prepared to investigate law enforcement officers who may have committed violations in operations against illegal drugs. “Until witnesses come forward and testify, however, the presumption of regularity in the performance of official duty by our law enforcement officers shall be respected,” he added. The Secretary made the statement in response to calls of rights group Amnesty International to look into possible violations committed by law enforcement during anti-illegal drugs operations. “There’s no need for Amnesty International to urge us to investigate possible violations of law by law enforcement agents in the conduct of the government’s anti-illegal drug campaign,” Guevarra stated.
