General News of Wednesday, 1 November 2017Source: Fred YornuGroup roots for reinstatement of Kwabena AgyepongKwabena Agyepong, suspended general secretary of the New Patriotic PartyFriends of Kwabena Agyepong, a pro New Patriotic Party (NPP) Group has added its voice to the call on the party’s National Council to review a decision by the Disciplinary Coomittee leading to the suspension of the party’s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong. The group based in the Volta Region appealed to the office of the Presidency to ensure the suspended General Secretary who has tirelessly served the party since 1992 is reinstated to his elected office. He indicated that the suspended Kwabena Agyepong had over the years established strong connections with the rank and file of the party, therefore, his reinstatement would restore strong control of affairs of the party. “The NPP is making the headlines which is about vigilantism because the acting executives of the party at the national level are not up to task... we believe Kwabena Agyepong has the pedigree to manage affairs of the party”, he stated. He described actions by the NPP Acting Chairman, Freddie Blay, against the reinstatement of Mr Agyepong as distasteful and manifests an intention to hold up the suspension until the tenure of the General Secretary expires in April 2018.
