Group asks court to compel DSS, police to probe Omo-Agege

John Alechenu, AbujaA pro-democracy group, the Incorporated Trustees of Empowerment for Unemployed Youths Initiative, has approached a Federal High court in Abuja asking it to compel the Department of State Services and the police to ascertain the veracity of claims that the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, was an ex-convict in the United States of America. Counsel for the group, Mr. Edward Omada, who spoke to reporters shortly after filing the suit, argued that it was incumbent on the DSS and the NPF to probe into the issue in the interest of the country. “Where a letter is written to the security agencies which have what we call statutory duties to do a particular job, the court can compel them by order of mandamus. That is what we have filed this morning.”Copyright PUNCH.
