Bryce McKenzie, left, and Laurie Paterson are the men behind the Groundswell NZ organisation, which has organised protests across New Zealand on Friday. Groundswell NZ founder Bryce McKenzie wanted to organise an event so big, the international media would take notice, and the New Zealand Government would have to respond – all from his kitchen table. McKenzie says he suspects it could be the biggest rural protest action New Zealand has ever seen. Robyn Edie/Stuff Southland farmers drove more than 100 tractors through Gores main street to protest against the Government’s new freshwater rules in October last year. The organisers of that event went on to form Groundswell NZ, which is organising nationwide protests on Friday.
