Hundreds of passengers on a Jetstar flight from Bangkok to Melbourne were in for a frustrating experience after experiencing a medical emergency that caused the plane to divert to Alice Springs Airport. A replacement part was sourced from Sydney, but unfortunately, as Alice Springs Airport is a domestic one and doesn’t have customs processing facilities, the travelers were stuck. The airline worked with border agencies, the NT police, and the airport authority to let passengers disembark into a special rear section of the airport. Jetstar also informed passengers that their checked luggage couldn’t be transferred to the replacement plane and will have to be collected on Monday in Melbourne. Despite being stranded for six hours after the medical emergency, passengers stayed understanding and patient.
