The Mariners had not lost a league game in 2026 but fell to a 3-1 defeat on the road at the Memorial Stadium. Tottenham Hotspur loanee Yusuf Akhamrich was the hero for the Gas on the day. His early assist helped put Rovers two in front within the first ten minutes before sealing the win with a composed second-half finish. Unfortunately, it was a disastrous start for the Mariners when Rovers forward Joe Quigley doubled their lead on seven minutes as he drove in a first-time shot from 15 yards after being teed up by Akhamrich.
