From May 17, the ban on taking a holiday abroad is set to be lifted and international travel will once again be allowed. Only ‘green list’ countries will be exempt from the rules and there are currently only a handful of countries on the list, including Portugal and Israel. Travellers must also book and pay for Covid testing in a bid to control the spread of mutant variants of the disease. That means reopening pubs and restaurants indoors, letting family and friends stay overnight and reopening foreign travel but under the traffic light system for countries.
