Green light for Invercargill's air traffic control to remain

Invercargill Airport chief executive Nigel Finnerty is pleased the Civil Aviation Authority has announced the city's airport should retain its level of air traffic control. Invercargill Airport’s level of air traffic control will not change after the Civil Aviation Authority supported recommendations in an aeronautical study to retain the current service. The study’s findings were passed on to the CAA in December, 2020, and it announced on Friday that the Invercargill airport had the correct level of air traffic control. “We were confident we had the right level of air traffic control,” he said. “It’s welcome news for the seven Airways staff employed in our Invercargill tower regarding the future of the service.
