Green Island scored back-to-back wins on the opening weekend of the twenty20 competition to move to the top of the Bing Harris standings. Joel Meade thrashed 55 from 34 to guide his side to a three-wicket win in a top-of-the-table match against Carisbrook-Dunedin. In the afternoon game, Green Island posted 168 for six against Taieri and won by 21 runs. Taieri suffered a defeat in its opening match, as well. Geordie Scott took three for 26 but his side could not knock off the runs.
