The new GR Supra is based on a BMW rear-drive platform, complete with inline-six engine and eight-speed automatic gearbox. Toyota NZ has consistently said Supra would be a "six-figure" car, but it was telling a bit of a fib. The GR Supra is the first Gazoo road car to be sold in NZ, but it won't be the last. Toyota NZ will have at least one from each of the three tiers on sale here by the end of 2020. In order to get on board with the global programme, Toyota NZ has now also rebranded its motorsport division Toyota Gazoo Racing NZ, incorporating the Castrol Toyota Racing Series (TRS) and the Toyota 86 Championship.
