She was among students from grassroot families who struggle immensely since the beginning of this year when schools switch to online learning amid the pandemic. Soon-to-be a primary four student, she attends online classes two hours a day from Monday to Friday using her mother's smartphone, using the video conferencing mobile application Zoom. She was upset that her grades fell from 90 marks to around 70 marks after online learning started. Over 90 percent of students are unhappy about continuing virtual learning in the new school year, fearing that they might fall behind their peers. Near 50 percent reported that their relationship with family members got worse as they were frustrated by prolonged online learning.
