The eight-year-old son of Courage Under Fire was a predictable $2.30 winner of the Group III Terror To Love Methven Cup on Sunday and he did it with ease. A grass track win at Methven on a sleepy Sunday could not be more of a contrast to where Smolda is heading but it may be the catalyst to kick-start his trans-Tasman Group I campaign. Grass track specialist Johnny Eyre, a c2 pacer who was outside of the race conditions, stormed home for an eye-catching fourth.
