Waimate Museum and Archives' work in preserving the district's history has received significant funding help. A "significant" grant will boost the Waimate Museum and Archives' ability to keep up with a 40 per cent increase in demand for its documentary history and preserve and make available more collections. The museum's governing body, the Waimate Historical Society, received $20,000 in the latest round of Lottery Environment and Heritage Committee funding grants. "It's (funding) significant... We want to ensure archives are preserved and easily discoverable." Esther Ashby-Coventry/Stuff Work at the Waimate Museum is progressing on saving and digitising its extensive historic collection.
