Grant Shapps announces quarantine exemption for business travellers

Grant Shapps today announced a significant loosening of coronavirus travel restrictions which will see 'high-value' business travellers made exempt from self-isolation rules. Mr Shapps said the move would allow 'more travel to support the economy and jobs' and will be subject to strict criteria. The guidance stressed that individuals 'will only be exempt when undertaking the specific business activity and will only be able to meet with others as required by that specific activity'. More detailed information on the business exemption is expected to be published by the Government when the changes come into effect. That will enable travellers arriving in England to end their quarantine period with a negative coronavirus test after five days in self-isolation.
