Dalriada Hotel was designed by the architect James Campbell Walker as a prestigious residenceA millionaire who led one of the world’s bestselling video game franchises is to turn a famed hotel into a luxury home. Leslie Benzies, who was lead developer on the Grand Theft Auto series, has bought the former Dalriada Hotel on the promenade at Portobello, Edinburgh, for more than £1 million. Despite interest from hospitality firms and property developers it was sold by the hoteliers Terry and Alison Magill to Mariah Ventures, a new company controlled by Mr Benzies. After 1970 the grade B listed Victorian villa was used as a hotel for more than half a century, originally trading as the Temple Hall Hotel.
