Despite this, the finalization of an agreement concerning the Nile River mega-dam remains elusive due to numerous challenges. Egypt aims to secure a binding legal agreement in these talks, addressing the operational and filling aspects of the dam, Egypt’s State Information Service reported. Situated on the Blue Nile river, a tributary of the Nile, near the Sudanese border, the dam is intended to furnish electricity to Ethiopia's populace and facilitate development and poverty alleviation. At the time, the two leaders pledged to reach a dam agreement within four months.
