Grains: Firm conditions emerged at the wholesale grains

Marketmen said rising domestic as well as exports demand against paucity of stocks on fall in supplies from producing regions mainly led to the rise in rice basmati prices. Increased offtake by flour mills amid pause in arrivals from producing belts helped wheat prices to end higher, they said. In the national capital, rice basmati common and Pusa- 1121 variety climbed to Rs 6,300-6,400 and Rs 4,950-5,025 from previous week's levels of Rs 6,000-6,100 and Rs 4,600-4,625 per quintal, respectively. Wheat dara (for mills) also edged up by Rs 20 to Rs 1,780-1,785 per quintal. Other bold grains like, bajra and maize rose by Rs 20 each to Rs 1,170-1,175 and Rs 1,310-1,320 per quintal, respectively.
