Govt urged to reconsider move to upgrade JITN to full department

SUNGAI PETANI: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today urged the government to reconsider its decision to upgrade the Integrity and Good Governance Division (JITN) under the Prime Minister's Department into a full department. Dzulkifli, instead, said the government should use the funds to upgrade the salary scheme and welfare of officers and staff at existing law enforcement agencies. “I do not see the need for another department when we already have the MACC, the Malaysian Institute of Integrity, the Human Rights Commission and the Enforcement Agencies Integrity Commission. “The funds being used to set up and operate the new department could instead be spent on upgrading manpower and the welfare of staff in existing agencies,” he said. Dzulkifli was commenting on yesterday’s announcement by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Paul Low, that the Cabinet has approved the upgrading of JITN into a full department.
